Bay Area Women Against Rape, the nation's first rape crisis center, was formed in 1971 to provide 24-hour comprehensive services for survivors of sexual assault and their significant others.

Special thanks to Christina Maureen Keegan, Miss Nevada 2009, for attending and speaking at our Speak Out to End Sexual Assault Event April 2010.

During her year of service, Christina utilized her title of Miss Nevada to promote her personal platform entitled “Strength Over Silence: Rape Education and Recovery”.

Christina hopes to orchestrate a national discussion on what has long been considered a taboo and highly stigmatized subject. As a survivor of sexual assault, Christina has spent her year advocating for victims’ rights statewide. Christina is a long-time volunteer for RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network).
